“Pattaya Hosts Workshop on ‘Local Storytelling for Tourism Films’” – Now this is something exciting for creatives, filmmakers, and anyone who loves local culture! Instead of just promoting beaches and nightlife, Pattaya is taking a fresh step by empowering local communities to turn their own stories into cinematic experiences. Whether you’re a content creator or just curious about the power of storytelling, this event is a game-changer.
On the morning of August 25th, 2025, Mr. Wuttisak Rermkijakarn, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya, officially opened the training program under the city’s annual project focused on awareness-building and community participation. The event was held at Grand Bella Hotel Pattaya, with attendance from Mr. Methakrit Sunthornsa, Pattaya City Council Member, and various officials and stakeholders. The opening speech and program overview were delivered by Mrs. Panrada Attohi, Acting Director of the Social Welfare Office.
The workshop titled “From Local Stories to Tourism Films” was designed as a hands-on session for 135 participants, including community members, local entrepreneurs, SMEs, and social enterprises. Its primary goal? To boost creative storytelling skills that connect local culture, history, and way of life with the growing film and tourism industries.
🎥 Why this matters
This isn’t just a regular training session. It’s part of a bigger vision: positioning Pattaya as a UNESCO Creative City of Film. The city aims to promote local participation in the film industry, develop a network of local facilitators for film production, and equip communities with media production skills that reflect their unique identities.
Participants learned how to:
- Transform historical and cultural narratives into scripts
- Collaborate with filmmakers and tourism agencies
- Present Pattaya’s local charm through the lens of cinema
- Create sustainable income from film-related tourism
💬 “It’s about laying the foundation”
In his speech, Deputy Mayor Mr. Wuttisak thanked all involved—organizers, speakers, and participants—for helping set the foundation for a creative future. He emphasized that this is more than just a class. It’s a critical step in moving Pattaya toward real, high-quality participation in the global film network. And yes, this is all part of preparing the city for UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network, with a focus on becoming an official City of Film.
At pattayacity.info, we believe in the power of stories—not just for entertainment, but as a tool for cultural preservation, community growth, and sustainable tourism. And this workshop? It’s a solid step in the right direction.
