Pattaya is stepping up its game to seriously regulate Sea Walker tourism and tighten safety standards across the board. If you’ve ever thought about walking under the sea in one of Thailand’s most iconic beach cities—well, things are about to get a whole lot safer, more organized, and eco-friendly.
Over the past few months, Pattaya City has been working closely with local marine tourism operators—ranging from floating restaurants and jet ski providers to Sea Walker tour operators—to improve operations and ensure compliance with public health, cleanliness, and environmental standards. Now, the city is zeroing in on Sea Walker businesses to bring everyone into a unified licensing system.
🌐 Under the proposed new regulations, all Sea Walker operators in areas like Koh Larn and Koh Sak will be required to obtain an annual operating license. The city recently held a meeting with the 19 registered operators (though only 11 are currently active) to explain the new licensing guidelines and expectations, which fall under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment’s coral reef protection measures.
🧑🏫 According to Mr. Wuttisak, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya,
“We’re giving all operators until the end of October to officially register and obtain their licenses. After that, city officials will conduct on-site inspections before issuing permits to ensure everything is in line with safety and environmental standards.”
Under these new rules, every Sea Walker tour must have certified guides trained under programs by the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources. The goal? Protect coral reefs, keep the ocean clean, and make sure tourists get a safe and honest experience—no cutting corners, no pollution, and no overcharging.
At PattayaCity.info, we fully support these efforts. As Pattaya continues to grow as a top-tier travel destination, it’s crucial that we also protect the natural beauty that brings people here in the first place. Responsible tourism isn’t just a trend—it’s the future. 🌏💙
Stay tuned for more updates on how Pattaya is setting new standards for marine tourism and making sure your next underwater adventure is not just fun—but safe, sustainable, and unforgettable.
