Pattaya City executives joined a meaningful and spiritual event on July 9, 2025, as part of the 150th Anniversary Celebration and the annual Maha Burapha Ajarn Day at Wat Chong Lom Na Kluea. It was a truly special morning filled with tradition, community spirit, and acts of merit.
Led by Mr. Wuttisak Rermkijakarn, the Deputy Mayor of Pattaya, the ceremony began with a traditional Buddhist tribute to the Triple Gem. He was joined by city council members, the Mayor’s secretariat team, officials from Banglamung District, and representatives from both the public and private sectors. A large number of faithful Buddhists and devotees came together at the temple’s sacred grounds to pay their respects and participate in the event.
✨ Highlights of the Ceremony
The ceremony featured 15 high-ranking monks who led a powerful session of Buddhist chanting. Organizers presented ceremonial fans (phat yot) and other offerings, including monetary and traditional items, to the monks. Attendees also joined in merit-making, water-pouring rituals, and an alms-offering session with food and sweets served to monks and novices.
In the afternoon, the event transitioned to a memorial ceremony dedicated to late revered monks, known as Maha Burapha Ajarns—spiritual teachers who helped shape the history of Wat Chong Lom. This date, July 9, marks the passing of Phra Khru Phiboon Thammakit (Phra Ajarn Phueak), the temple’s second abbot.
The tradition of Maha Burapha Ajarn Day began in 1972 and honors four great spiritual teachers:
- Phra Athikan Ju Sakato (1st Abbot of Wat Chong Lom)
- Phra Khematassi Chantheesamankun (Wat Khao Bang Sai)
- Somdet Phra Buddhakosajarn (Wat Thepsirin, Bangkok)
- Phra Khru Phiboon Thammakit (2nd Abbot of Wat Chong Lom)
🍛 Community Spirit Through Shared Meals
Pattaya City officials also took part in offering free meals to all attendees through a community food booth. Many generous locals and Buddhist followers brought food and drinks to share, creating a warm and giving atmosphere throughout the day.
This annual ceremony at Wat Chong Lom Na Kluea reflects Pattaya’s commitment to preserving tradition, honoring spiritual heritage, and bringing people together in the name of faith and community.
