Pattaya is set to upgrade its Community Medical Center at Wat Boonkanjanaram to raise the standard of public healthcare services — and that’s big news for both locals and tourists who rely on easy access to quality care. Here’s what’s happening and why this project matters.
As part of the city’s commitment to improving healthcare services, the Public Health and Environment Department, through its medical services division, has taken on the mission to expand the Pattaya Community Medical Center. The center currently operates Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and it already serves a large number of patients—especially those with chronic conditions who need regular care.
But with that high demand comes some real challenges. The existing space is limited, and when it rains, patients waiting outside are often exposed to wet and slippery conditions. Not only does this affect comfort and safety, but it also compromises the overall service quality. So the city is stepping in to fix that.
Plans are now in the works to expand and renovate the center. One of the key improvements includes building a new emergency care room, which will help staff treat accident victims, wound care patients, and those who need injections or other medical procedures. The plan also includes a conference room, office space for staff, and a temperature-controlled pharmacy storage area — all designed to bring the facility up to national healthcare standards.
Deputy Mayor Mr. Wuttisak Ruekkitjakarn has assigned the public health team to inspect the site and work with city council members from District 3. Together, they’ve started outlining how the space—especially areas around the wastewater treatment facility near the temple—can be used for the expansion. Next up: sending detailed plans to the engineering office for review and initial design.
Once completed, this project will help make public health services in Pattaya more accessible, efficient, and safe — while keeping pace with the city’s ongoing growth.
